Junior Rugby is the next step on the Rugby Union ladder, enabling children from the ages of 13 to 16 to build on the skills and fitness that they have learned in the Mini’s section.

Starting with the U13’s, the pitch size increases and the players will be expected to play in longer games. The coaches will introduce the children to 6 player contested scrums and the art of kicking (and when not to kick).

As the children progress through the age groups, both the pitch size and scrum size increases. Players are taught how to perform a lineout and kick for goal, with an increasing level of competition as they get older.

The club welcomes parental involvement, whether with the training or as a volunteer. Please let your child’s coach know, and they will point you in the right direction. Most of our coaches are parents who, after playing rugby themselves, have now volunteered their time to bring the benefits of the sport to other children.

Safeguarding of children is foremost in the thinking of Minety RFC. We support and adhere fully to the RFU guidelines.
